ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TO Sri Lanka

Please note that the Sri Lankan e-visa application website has been suspended, effective August 2nd.

According to the latest guidelines, an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) system is expected to be operational soon. Delegates from certain countries may be able to obtain a visa upon arrival in Sri Lanka.

Visa document Requirements

  • Ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the date you plan to enter Sri Lanka.

  • A hard copy of the e-Visa approval letter issued by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Emigration (For e- Visa Holders only)

Visa Application to Enter Sri Lanka

There are different Visa application criteria for entering Sri Lanka. We strongly recommend you check your relevant local Srilankan Embassy site to review requirements specific to your circumstances.

E- Visa

To enter Sri Lanka, all visitors must obtain a visa either upon arrival or beforehand. For tourism purposes, most visitors are required to acquire an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to be eligible for a visa on arrival, except for those exempt from this requirement.

With ETA visa, you can:

  • Stay in Sri Lanka for up to 30 days at a time. It may be extended for up to 6 months

Once you have found the visa type, below are the steps to apply for a Sri Lanka eVisa? 

  1. Visit the official website of Sri Lanka eVisa. (https://www.srilankaevisa.lk

  2. Create an account or log in if you already have one. 

  3. Fill out the online application form with accurate details. 

  4. Upload the required documents, including a scanned copy of your passport, a recent photograph, and any additional documents specified for your eVisa category. 

  5. Pay the eVisa fee securely online using the available payment options. 

  6. Once your application is submitted and payment is confirmed, you will receive an acknowledgment receipt and a unique application reference number. 

  7. Track the status of your eVisa application online using your reference number. 

  8. Upon approval, download and print your eVisa to present to the Immigration officer at the port of entry in Sri Lanka.
